Whether you sleep like a baby (whatever that means), need a solid ten hours or feel refreshed waking up while it’s still dark; our society has a LOT to say about sleep. Not sleeping enough will knock years off your life but sleeping too much is lazy. Napping is both a superpower you can use to unlock your productivity and the worst thing you can possibly do if you want to sleep. Not to mention the time you sleep best, whether you’re a night owl or a morning lark, says everything about who you are and your value to society.

But how much of what we understand about sleep is actually true? Does screen time before bed damage our sleep? Can mouth taping help us sleep better with less snoring? Can hacking our sleep improve our productivity and should employers be encouraging it? Does our sleep quality and pattern tell us hidden things about our health, wellbeing and general lifestyle? We put these questions and more to our sleep experts to understand the science, debunk the pseudoscience and learn how to unlock the true potential of our sleep.

Joining host Andy Wilson for our sleep panel will be:

James Wilson, AKA The Sleep Geek, is a globally renowned sleep expert who has helped hundreds of thousands of people sleep better with his considerate, caring and no nonsense approach, called Taking The Stress Out Of Sleep, which rather than delivering prescriptive and unsuccessful world-class-basics, gives people an understanding of their sleep, and how to get the best sleep they can, within the constraints of jobs, kids, pets, hobbies, relationships and all the things that an impact on our sleep.

Professor Richard Wiseman has published over 100 academic papers examining the psychology of magic, illusion, and the paranormal. He has written several popular psychology books, including Night School: Wake Up to the Power of Sleep, which uncovers the scientific truth about the sleeping brain - and gives powerful tips on how those hours of apparently 'dead' time in the dark can transform your waking life.

Louise Berger is a qualified Occupational Therapist with extensive experience in the fields of physical and mental health rehabilitation. She established the Insomnia Sleep Service at the Royal Surrey County NHS Hospital, providing tailored, 1:1 sleep interventions for some of the UKs worst sleepers.
