QED is a two-day science and skepticism convention taking place at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester from the 19th-20th October 2024. Fantastic speakers from the worlds of science and entertainment will be joining us for a weekend celebration of science, reason and critical thinking.
We aim to be an inclusive event, welcoming attendees from all backgrounds, ethnicities, and genders.
Latest Update
It is often said that class is the great divide in British society, but what does social class mean in 2024? Is it a set of escalators where we can easily move up and down? Or more like an open prison, where only occasionally do a few manage to escape? If you are born working class do you remain that way, regardless of how your life changes? And to what degree does the class your born into define or limit your opportunities in life, and the discrimination or favour you might encounter?

SkeptiCamp 2024
Also returning is the free SkeptiCamp event as part of QED weekend. At SkeptiCamp, the attendees are responsible for the creation and delivery of the dayʼs content, and anyone is eligible to present a talk.
You donʼt need to be a published author, famous podcaster or professional communicator to get involved. SkeptiCamp Manchester 2024 takes place on Friday 18th October, is completely free, and this year is again being organised by our good friends at Skeptics in the Pub Online. Further details to be announced.
About QED
QED is organised by North West Skeptical Events Ltd, a volunteer-owned, non-profit organisation. Each year we aim for QED to break even, spending all funds raised by ticket sales on creating the best event possible. Any surplus is reinvested in future events or donated to good causes.
