Every year, as part of the free QED fringe, we open the doors to the QED venue for this completely free one-day event, where the speakers are chosen from you, the skeptical audience. This year, Skepticamp will take place on Friday, September 22nd at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester, and will be presented and curated by the team behind Skeptics in the Pub Online.

Because the event is free, anyone can attend, and there’s no booking required or ticket to buy. What’s more, anyone can volunteer to give a short talk about their subject of choice.

You don’t need to be a published author, famous podcaster or professional communicator to get involved - if it’s interesting and it’s skeptical, it’s in.

SkeptiCamp is about providing an open and accessible platform for as many members of the Skeptic community as possible to share their ideas, collaborate, and discuss the topics they’re passionate about. For those not speaking at the event, you still get to have your say with time set aside for audience questions after each presentation.

If you’d like to present a talk, you’ll need to register ahead of time by heading over to the Skeptics in the Pub Online website and filling in a speaker form. As submissions come in, their team will liaise with potential speakers, and put together a schedule. Each speaker will be allocated a fifteen-minute time slot, with ten minutes to present and five minutes for audience questions.

Ideally, your talk should focus on subjects related to; scientific skepticism, critical thinking, science, skeptical activism, an issue that’s relevant to the community, or a relevant project that you’d like to raise awareness about.

SkeptiCamp is designed for anyone to enjoy as a standalone event, but it’s also the perfect way to get into the mood for QED, so be sure to join us there for free, and you can also pick up your QED ticket for access to the full Saturday and Sunday schedules.
