QED returns this Halloween, with Fern Riddell, Chris Jackson, Paul Duncan McGarrity, and God Awful Movies

After an unexpectedly long and disconcertingly pandemicky hiatus, QED - the UKʼs largest celebration of science, reason and critical thinking - will return on the 29th-30th October, 2022, and weʼre excited to announce that tickets will go on sale at 6pm BST on June 13th, 2022.
While we are working on putting together our usual high-quality mix of speakers, panels, workshops and podcasts from across the skeptical world, we can already announce that this yearʼs QED will feature:
- Historian, author and broadcaster Dr Fern Riddell
- Geoscientist and science communicator Dr Chris Jackson
- Hugely-popular comedy podcast God Awful Movies
- Comedian, archeologist and podcaster Paul Duncan McGarrity as our emcee for the weekend
Tickets for QED 2022 will cost £120 for the full weekend and £80 for students and under-18s. Weʼll have a full on-site creche facility available, plus our all-day SkeptiCamp event on Friday 28th October which will be free for anyone to attend, no ticket required.
Once again, QED will be taking place at the Mercure Piccadilly in Manchester, who are already on standby to take room reservations for QED attendees. Our QED discount price is £120 for a single room and £131 for a double/twin room – but please note, to get our special price bookings must be made over the phone, so call 0161 751 1412 (Option 1) and quote ‘2810QEDSKE’ during booking. Also, we suggest you shop around a little first, as there may be better offers available for the hotel on other websites.
The QED team would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of our eager attendees for bearing with us over the last few years, amid a series of public-health-related postponements. We can’t wait to reward you for that loyalty with another exciting weekend of talks, panels, podcasts and more.
Weʼll be announcing more about the event soon, so mark your diaries for tickets going on sale at 6pm BST on June 13th 2022, and then keep your eyes peeled for further announcements. Weʼll see you all in Manchester this Halloween!
